Thomas to lead Magpies

CLINTON Thomas has been appointed senior football coach for Camperdown for the next two seasons.

Hailing from Hamilton, he will lead the Magpies after impressing selectors with his vision to continue building a whole-club approach, further develop its junior development program and to ensure the club is well established for a sustainable future.

Thomas brings with him a wealth of playing and coaching experience.

He has represented Hamilton Imperials, Koroit and North Ballarat in the VFL as a player.

He has also coached Cavendish to premiership success in 2022 and has held assistant coaching roles at Koroit and currently North Ballarat under Brendan McCartney.

Thomas also spent time as a strength and conditioning coach at Carlton and is the current sport academy coordinator at Hamilton’s Monivae College.

Camperdown president Phil Cunningham said the club believed Thomas’ experience would be a huge asset for the Magpies.

“We’re very excited to welcome Clinton and his family to the club,” he said.

“Throughout our interview process, what stood out to us was his passion to coach Camperdown and his vision to help the whole club move forward.

“We firmly believe Clinton is the best person to build on the hard work of Neville Swayn and take the club to greater places in the coming years.”

Thomas said he was excited to be joining the club in 2025.

“A big appeal in taking on the role is that the Camperdown Football Netball Club is a very community-centred club with a lot of great people and potential,” he said.

“My focus will be on working with the playing group to continue building a strong culture, developing our juniors and implementing a solid game plan.”
