Three from three
COBDEN’S division one cricketers made it three from three on the weekend with a decisive win over Terang.

COBDEN’S division one cricketers made it three from three on the weekend with a decisive win over Terang.
Senior coach Simon Murfett was “thrilled” with his side’s win, saying it was a great all-round effort both with the bat and the ball.
“I was really impressed with how the whole team played,” Murfett said.
“At one stage I was a little concerned, we were in a bit of trouble on the scoreboard but Eddie (Walsh) and Parker (Walsh) had a 15 or 16 over partnership that helped got us over the line.
“And our bowlers really did well, especially Angus Uwland who took 5/11 off his seven-odd overs.”
Reflecting on the day, Murfett said there was only one dropped catch for the afternoon but most opportunities were taken.
“We did really well in the field; I couldn’t fault anyone’s efforts, I was pleased with them all,” he said.
“Saturday’s win makes it three from three for us and we can’t ask for more than that!”
Murfett praised the conditions at Terang, saying that while the score may not have reflected how good the turf wicket was, he believes the Terang ground was “probably the best I’ve seen it for a few years. It was in great knick.”
Final scores were Cobden 8/136cc to Terang 75.
Murfett added 44 not out to the scoreboard, ably supported by Matty Boyle on 24 (not out), Eddie Walsh 20 and Parker Walsh 17.
Best of the bowlers were Paul Pekin 2/25 off 10 and Angus Howland 5/11 from 7.4.
Cobden’s division four side won on forfeit to Woorndoo.
The club’s division one side is now looking forward to this weekend’s twenty20 competition and will be hoping to go one better than last season when it finished runners-up to Mortlake.
With Mortlake now in the Warrnambool league, the Knights rate themselves a “realistic chance.”
“We’re down to take on Camperdown at Terang and hopefully we’ll do enough to advance through to the final,” Murfett said.
“The grand final will be a night game at Cobden so that would be extra special.”
