Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Country Fire Authority (CFA) and State Emergency Services (SES) units were called to the intersection of Darlington-Camperdown and Castle Carey Roads at 6.45pm on Saturday, February 8.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

“It is believed a blue Mazda collided with a blue Subaru at the intersection of Darlington-Camperdown and Castle Carey roads about 6.45pm,” the spokesperson said.

“The driver and only occupant of the Subaru, a 27-year-old man from Wantirna South, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“The driver of the Mazda, a 64-year-old woman, and her 67-year-old passenger, both from Darlington, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“A second passenger in the Mazda was uninjured.”

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics arrived on scene just before 7pm.

“A man in his 20s was taken to Warrnambool Hospital in a stable condition for further assessment,” the spokesperson said.

“A man and a woman – both in their 60s – were also treated for upper body injuries and were taken to Warrnambool Hospital in a stable condition.”

The Victoria Police spokesperson said police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

The spokesperson also urged drivers to obey road rules after attending services observed a passing truck driver filming the incident on their phone.

“Police would also like to remind motorists that driving whilst using a mobile device, including filming, attracts a $593 penalty and four demerit points,” the spokesperson said.

“It is recommended that you always call Triple Zero (000) if you are first on the scene or witness to an incident.”
