Three injured in horror crash

A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a single vehicle accident in Terang on Sunday night.

A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a single vehicle accident in Terang on Sunday night.

Terang Police senior constable Melissa Grey said a 50 year-old male and two passengers sustained injuries in the crash.

The incident occurred at 8pm Sunday when the driver of a black Holden Commodore was believed to have lost control at the T-intersection of Cameron and Grey Street.

The vehicle knocked down a street sign before ploughing through a wire fence and rolling a number of times.

“The driver appears to have lost control at the end of Grey Street and rolled in to the neighbouring paddock,” Snr Const Gray said.

“The vehicle rolled and landed on its side.

“A 35 year-old male was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious injuries after being ejected from the vehicle.

“A 42 year-old female passenger was treated for minor injuries, and the 50 year-old driver was also treated for injuries.”

Snr Const Gray said police were investigating the cause of the collision.

“Police are investigating whether speed, distraction or impairment were considered contributing factors,” she said.

She said police were seeking any witnesses who may be able to provide further information.

“We are calling on anyone who witnessed the collision or helped in the aftermath to come forward,” Snr Const Gray said.

“If anyone in the Grey Street area has got CCTV footage at around the time of the incident, please get in contact with Terang police.”

The Victoria Police Major Collision Investigation Unit also attended the scene are assisting with the investigation.
