BOLSTERED by the return of mid-courter Emma Smith, the Tigers showed plenty of determination in their clash against the Demons last weekend.

Despite the final scoreboard showing a 38-53 goal defeat, Tigers senior co-coach Kate Jubb said her young side applied good defensive pressure all over the court and worked well to move the ball through the centre.

“It was great to have Emma (Smith) back on court in a Tigers uniform again,” Jubb said.

“At this stage I’m unsure whether or not she’ll play any of the remaining games but it was great to have her out there, especially with Renae (Reynolds) away.”

Jubb also made mention of the efforts of young defender Mia Richie who once again got her hands to plenty of balls and worked hard both in and out of the goal circle.

“Kaitlyn Fowler also had a good game in centre and worked well when moved to goal shooter,” Jubb said.

Richie and Smith were named best on court for the Tigers.

The Tigers’ B grade side put in a strong performance against Lismore Derrinallum to come home with a 36-22 goal win.

Jaime Killen and Sarah Muir were named best for the Tigers.

And in C grade the Tigers suffered their third loss of the season, going down21-26.

Best for the Tigers were WhaWhaKiTeRangi Hapuku and Olivia Loader.

In the junior games, the Tigers won both the under 17 (48-8) and under 15 (21-7; best on court Ava Wardlaw) games.

In the 13 and under match, the Tigers were defeated 10-13 with Indi Wardlaw named best on court.

The run home will be a tough one for the Tiger’s A grade netballers.

They will host second-placed Penshurst this weekend before Wickliffe Lake Bolac (no game), Hawesdale MacArthur (third) and finishing off the home and away season at home to current top side Tatyoon.
