WOORNDOO Mortlake Football Netball Club made the most of its opportunities on Saturday, getting the better of SMW Rovers.

The Tigers strode home as victors in a 46-40 contest, which co-coach Kate Jubb said was a solid performance on the court.

“It was really good to get the win,” she said.

“It was a tough game but all the girls fought it out well.”

Jubb said goal keeper Mia Richie was a standout performer for the Tigers.

“She is always a standout,” she said.

“She has been consistent targeted but for a 15-year old she has been a fantastic asset to the team.”

Moving forward Jubb said efficient movement would be in the club’s sights.

“We want to be a bit steadier moving down the court,” she said.

“We also want to be communicating with our goalies.”

This weekend the Tigers will match up with Hawkesdale Macarthur, which is coming off a strong 21-goal win over Glenthompson Dunkeld.

Jubb said she hoped to see the team make the most of scoring opportunities while missing a key player.

“We’re missing our goal shooter this week so we just want to see some good, steady netball.”

In other A grade netball results Hawkesdale Macarthur defeated Glenthompson Dunkeld 55-34, Tatyoon overcame Penshurst 45-30, Ararat bested Great Western 62-32 and Caramut got the win against Lismore Derrinallum 41-28.
