Tigers do club proud
WOORNDOO Mortlake’s B grade netballers’ hopes of a premiership flag were dashed last weekend.
WOORNDOO Mortlake’s B grade netballers’ hopes of a premiership flag were dashed last weekend.
The team put on a gallant effort against the Ararat Eagles during last Saturday’s preliminary final at Penshurst.
Final scores were Woorndoo Mortlake 24 to Ararat 34.
Jaime Killen once again provided plenty of drive down the midcourt for the Tigers, while defender Sarah Muir got her hands on plenty of intercepts outside the Eagles’ goal circle, earning both players best on court.
Hopes for a 2022 premiership flag now rest on the Tigers’ 17 and under side who will take on Penshurst in this Saturday’s grand final.
Under the guidance of coach Sarah Cameron and assistant Nik Richie, the Tigers finished the season on top of the ladder, just four points clear of the second-placed Bombers.
When the two sides met in round nine, the Tigers took the win 30-21.
They will be hoping for a repeat performance this weekend.
