Tigers dominate Caramut

Currently sitting second, the Tigers are a game clear of Wickliffe Lake Bolac in third and two games clear of fourth-placed Penshurst.
The Tigers will face Hawkesdale Macarthur (seventh) in an anticipated round 15 win this Saturday before facing off with ladder leaders Tatyoon at home in the final round.
Woorndoo Mortlake’s 2023 season has been a successful one to date, with all football and netball sides currently sitting in the top five.
Both football sides sit second, while in the netball, the Tigers’ 18 and unders sit undefeated on top while the remaining five teams sit third on their respective ladders heading in to round 15.
Last Saturday’s home game against Caramut saw the Tigers dominate in all games but one (13 and under netball).
Jordan Buckley had a great day in front of goals, booting 10 majors in the Tigers’ 209-point win over the Swans.
The percentage booster saw the Tigers restrict the visitors to just one goal for the day, while adding 33.16.214 to the scoreboard.
Along with Buckley’s 10, Jesse Horan added seven goals, Damien Pemberton (4), Will Paulin (3) and two each from Simon Atkinson, Jasob Fowler and Justin Snow.
Xavier Glossop, Matthew Pemberton and Will Templeton each kicked a goal apiece.
Among the best for the side were Will Paulin, Matthew Pemberton, Jordan Buckley, Damien Pemberton, Haydn Templeton and James Coghlan West.
Earlier in the day, the Tigers’ reserves side also celebrated a big win, kicking 27.23.185 while keeping Caramut scoreless.
Grant Cameron and Benjamin Makepeace both kicked five and were named in the best alongside Byron Loader, Brody Mifsud, Marshall Browne and Teba Lott.
Other goal kickers for the Tigers were Tom Carmichael and Brody Mifsud with four each, Byron Loader (3), Tyler Humphrey (2), James Templeton (2) and singles from Chris Crawley and Luke Smith.
The Tigers’ netballers also had a successful round, winning five of the six games played.
Results were as follows:
A grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Caramut 65-10.
B grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Caramut 40-25.
C grade – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Caramut 28-9.
18 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Caramut 23-17.
15 and under – Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Caramut 30-16.
13 and under – Caramut defeated Woorndoo Mortlake 25-16. Best player: Billie Carmody.
