SIMPSON’S senior netballers will take on ladder leaders South Colac this weekend in a game that could possibly see them move up the ladder.

The Tigers currently sit third on the ladder, a small percentage away from second-placed Irrewarra-Beeac and half a game behind South Colac.

Tigers’ coach Paige Salmon said her side was looking forward to the finals series.

“When we last met South Colac we lost by five goals but it was one of those games I felt we could have won,” Salmon said.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge of meeting them again. We’re taking each game as it comes and are looking forward to the finals series.”

With nine wins and just three losses on the board, Salmon said her side was looking forward to a strong finals series.

“We’re excited to be sitting in third spot. Finals has always been our goal and we’re working hard towards that."

“We’re starting to gel at the right end of the season and fortunately we have a very versatile team.”

The A grade side was bolstered at the start of the year with the inclusion of Hayley Coulson in defence.

“Hayley arrived two weeks prior to the start of the season and she has fitted in perfectly,” Salmon said.

“She had been working as a flight attendant based in Dubai and came to the Simpson area with her husband to enjoy the farm life."

“She is a very handy defender and also umpires and helps out around the club.”

With just six rounds of the home-and-away season remaining, the Tigers are hoping to remain in the top three and secure the double chance.

“This weekend will be tough but I have a lot of belief in the girls; I know they’ll put in 110 per cent.”

A win this Saturday will also top off a special day for A grader Kelly Thompson who will play her 200th senior game for the Tigers.
