Tigers hold slim chance for finals
WOORNDOO Mortlake will be hoping for some extra luck to fall its way in the remaining three rounds if they are any chance at playing finals.
The Tigers, currently sitting seventh on the Mininera League ladder and two games behind the fifth-placed Ararat, will need to win the next three games and rely on sides above them to suffer a string of defeats.
The run home will see the Tigers take on the 10th-placed SMW Rovers at Woorndoo this Saturday before they travel to North Park next week to face Great Western (9th).
Their final round of the home and away season, on Saturday August 17, will be at home to the low-placed Moyston Willaura.
Round 13 last weekend saw the Tigers struggle against an in-form Hawkesdale Macarthur, going down by 74 points, 5.4.34 to 16.12.108.
Jordan Buckley kicked three for the side while Damien Pemberton added one to the board.
Among the best players were Matthew Pemberton, Jordan Buckley, Will Templeton, Mac Shaw, Sam Gervasoni and Tipa Brown.
In the reserves match, Woorndoo Mortlake defeated Hawkesdale Macarthur by 60 points and now sits just one game outside the top five – four points behind neighbours Wickliffe Lake Bolac.
Final scores last Saturday were Woorndoo Mortlake 14.5.89 to Hawkesdale Macarthur 4.5.29.
