Tigers ready for Caramut
WOORNDOO Mortlake’s A grade netball side will welcome a new face as it steps onto the court this weekend.

WOORNDOO Mortlake’s A grade netball side will welcome a new face as it steps onto the court this weekend.
The Tigers have kept the majority of its 2019 grand final list, but has added Chloe Woods to its top side for its clash with Caramut at Woorndoo Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
Tigers coach Ashlea Spokes said Woods is the partner of a Tigers footballer and a player she has knowledge of having crossed paths with the mid-courter in the Colac and District league.
“She’ll be a great inclusion for us,” she said.
“She’ll swing through the mid-court so wing attack, centre and wing defence, she’s very versatile and she’s got good speed.
“I played juniors against her when I played in the Colac and District league and she was a very handy player.
“Whether it’s defensively or in attack she reads the play well and knows where to put the ball. Apart from her pretty much everyone else is back so it’ll be good to have everyone back on court.”
Spokes said the club had no expectations ahead of its first match in almost 18 months.
“We’re just happy to get back on court after so long off,” she said.
“We don’t know how we’ll go so we’ll see what happens but we’re just happy to field a team.
“I haven’t heard too much about Caramut so I don’t know how they will be. They were the bottom side two years ago but I don’t know if they’ve picked up or not so it should be a good game.
“It will be nice to get the first one under the belt.”
Meanwhile the Tigers’ senior footballers will hit the field once again under coach Damien Pemberton.
After a strong recruiting drive in 2020, the Tigers are expected to unveil a number of new faces when they take on the Swans.
