EVERGREEN Terang veteran Tim Keane will add another milestone to his illustrious cricketing career this Saturday.

The all-rounder will represent the Terang Cricket Club for the 350th time when the Goats host Noorat at Terang Turf.

Nearly 50, Keane started his career when he was 21 (1991/92) and has played 341 division one, four division two and five division three games.

He is arguably one of Terang’s best cricketers, having plundered 8644 runs at an average of 27.27 with a best of 126 against Woorndoo and has taken 678 wickets at 15.3 with a best of 8/28.

Keane has also taken 180 catches and completed 21 run-outs and has won four association and 14 club Cricketer of the Year awards.

Ahead of his milestone match, Keane said he still enjoyed cricket as much as he did when he started and was proud of his achievements.

“I suppose it’s something that happens when you play a lot of cricket,” he said.

“It’s good to be able to play for that long and being injury free helps that.

“I enjoy it – it’s good to get out of a weekend and enjoy some competition but the social side of it is probably the biggest thing for me.

“It’s good to make some runs and take some wickets every now and then but it’s more the friends you make and the social side of things that does it for me.”

With a crunch game against old-time rival Noorat, Keane is looking forward to the weekend.

Terang is searching for a second successive victory after it defeated reigning premier Pomborneit last Friday.

The Goats dismissed the Bulls for 100 at Terang Turf, and passed the target with seven wickets in hand just after drinks.

Tim Keane (3/10), Brett Hunger (2/17) and Tyson Hay (2/19) shared the bulk of the wickets before Lachie Rooke (36 not out), Hamish Bruckner (25) and Tommy Moloney (20 not out) guided the side home.

Noorat enters the game on the back of two wins after it knocked over Bookaar last Friday.

The Steamrollers chased down the Pelicans total of 8/132 in 22 overs.

Martin Wynd (35), Chris Bant (35), Jacob Fishwick (34) and Gus Bourke (24 not out) starred with the bat, while Bourke (3/24) and Isaac Kenna (2/28) were the pick of the bowlers.

While Keane hopes to be on the winning side of the ledger of the annual grudge match, the outcome will not change the one post-game tradition he enjoys the most.

“Noorat is always keen to beat us as we are to beat them,” he said.

“It’s been a good rivalry over the years, we’ve won our fair share and lost our fair share and had our ups and downs but it always adds a bit a bit of spice to our games.

“It would be nice to win, it would make the day a bit more enjoyable but if we don’t it’s not really going to affect the way I go about the day.

“It’ll just be good to get out and play the game and then sit down at the end of the day, have a beer and enjoy the afters.”

Keane thanked the Terang Cricket Club for its help and friendship over the past 29 years, South West Cricket for providing a good competition and his friends and family for their support along his cricketing journey.
