TIMBOON Lions Club recently held its annual Changeover Dinner at the Timboon Golf Club.

Members were delighted outgoing District Governor Tom Blair and his wife Jan travelled all the way from the Bellarine Peninsula to attend the dinner, present long service chevrons and install the club’s 2022-23office bearers.

Due to the last two years of COVID, the club decided to reinstall last year’s management team for another year.

Members were grateful to Ken Ackerley and his team for agreeing to stay on in order to regenerate many of the services which used to be offered to the community before the pandemic.

The club has lately had some bad and some good news. The bad news is that it has lost highly valued and long standing memberBob Slater.

Bob passed away this June and his friendship and the enthusiasm he brought to the club’s activities over many years will be sadly missed.

The good news is the Timboon Lions Club has gained a new member – Nellie Richards of Scotts Creek.

Nellie was inducted and welcomed into the Club at the Changeover Dinner.

Another prospective member was also scheduled to be inducted at the dinner but was unfortunately unable to attend due to illness.

It is hoped that he will be inducted as soon as he is better.

The club’s other activities seem to be progressing well so far this year. Wood cutting at the Timboon Veterinary Clinic is almost finished.

Sylvia Micallef has been given another large pile of used spectacles for reuse overseas. Monthly wood raffles outside the Timboon IGA are receiving good support from the community.

As always, Timboon Lions Club is looking for new members and anyone, male or female, looking for information or considering joining should not hesitate to contact membership committee chairman Owen Wallace on 5595 0281 or 0409 516 777.
