Timboon P-12 rules the roost
TIMBOON P-12 School grade 5/6B students were in a flap over their success at the Royal Melbourne Show this year.

TIMBOON P-12 School grade 5/6B students were in a flap over their success at the Royal Melbourne Show this year.
Teacher Carly Burnett said students took out a number of awards at this year’s show thanks to their dedication in raising chickens during term three.
“We won first prize for the class poster and we won overall best primary school chicken,” she said.
“Apparently we got the highest overall result.
“It was a surprise for everyone.”
The overall competition was judged on the look and weight of the chickens, supporting poster entry and egg laying abilities.
Throughout term three, students were busy learning the finer details of how to raise the five Hy-Line Brown commercial pullets, which were donated to the school for the project.
Duties included checking for eggs, providing food and water for the chickens, weighing them each week as well as interacting with the chickens.
As part of the project the students selected the top three chickens of the five to be sent to the Royal Melbourne Show during the September school holidays for judging.
Ms Burnett said the class had enjoyed taking part in the project, with the win an added benefit.
“It was a great experience for them,” she said.
“It was great to see the class participate and form a bond with the chickens.
“They all wanted to be around the chickens.”
