Timboon set to celebrate milestone
PLANS for Timboon’s 150th celebrations are full steam ahead with a jam-packed line-up of events over two days.
The event will be held on March 8 and 9 next year, with the Timboon 150 Celebrations committee hard at work to organise the milestone event.
Event publicity officer Corry Kerr said the committee was almost at the stage where they can present the full program for the weekend.
“The Saturday is full of local events including parkrun and the lifting of the time capsule in conjunction with the Timboon Lions Club,” she said.
“Two highlights of the day will be a parade and a cabaret on the Saturday night – there will be lots of other things happening.
“The whole aim of the event is to celebrate what we’ve got here in Timboon.”
Ms Kerr said feedback for the event, which is being organised under the Timboon Action umbrella, had been positive.
She said the committee has been hard at working organising the two-day celebrations, which will include the popular TRACKS festival on the Sunday.
“We are very thankful for the committee members,” Ms Kerr said.
“Nothing would happen without the support of the volunteers.”
At the end of October, the committee will be manning an office at the little space next to the Timboon Newsagents for people to drop off memorabilia or volunteer for the celebrations.
