CAMPERDOWN’S Good Friday Appeal co-ordinator Kellie Kempton is saying ‘I wanna dance with somebody’ as the appeal’s 80s night approaches.

The new night of Saturday, June 24 came about after the event previously planned for October last year was postponed due to low numbers.

Ms Kempton said she is hoping for at least 100 people to make the night worthwhile.

“It’s virtually just a fun night out with 80s music, and all proceeds to towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal,” she said.

“It’s all different bands, all different types of singers.

“We have a DJ; this year we’ve got Daniel Missen.”

The 80s night will be held at Camperdown College’s Senior Campus Hall, which has been kindly donated for the charity event, from 8pm to 12am.

People are encouraged to dress up in 80s-style outfits, with prizes for best dressed available on the night and raffles held as well.

To make the event affordable, for all attendees supper and drinks are BYO.

Tickets are $20 each, and Ms Kempton said 23 have been sold so far.

“Nineteen of those were from the last one we did who were happy to keep their tickets until they changed the date,” she said.

“It’s not good with only three weeks to go.”

Ms Kempton asked for those interested to buy their tickets in the weeks leading to the event.

“I know people usually leave everything to the last minute, but for DJ and hall hire, it’d be great if people could buy their tickets a bit earlier this year and not leave it to the last minute,” she said.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Prosser’s on 0418 176 6798.
