Top club award for Hanks

MATTHEW Hanks has been named Club Person of the Year for Cobden Cricket Club.

MATTHEW Hanks has been named Club Person of the Year for Cobden Cricket Club.

Hanks received his award at the club’s annual presentation day last Sunday.

The well-attended event proved a celebration of what was a successful 2022/23 season.

Among the many highlights of the day was the presentation of the ‘Knights Honour’ to club member Peter Rock.

It was a day full of acknowledgement for all team and individual efforts, encouragement to those who continue to strive for excellence both on and off the field, and gratitude to those who continue to go above and beyond for the club.

The day started with the club’s junior presentations that included both under 13 and under 16 Cobden SWCA sides, as well as the Cobden/Mortlake under 13 and under 15’s, and Cobden under 17 girls’ WDCA side.

Award winners were as follows:

Under 17 Girls

Jessica Walsh: Cricketer of the Year, Bowling Average.

Abbie Hanks: Batting Average and Aggregate, Bowling Aggregate.

Leah Dickson: Most Improved.

Phoebe Harris: Best in Finals.

Anna Dickson: Coaches’ Award.

Under 16 Boys

Eddie Walsh: Cricketer of the Year, Batting Average and Aggregate.

Parker Walsh: Bowling Average and Aggregate, Best in Finals.

Brody Hanks: Most Improved.

Cooper Beard: Best Team Player.

Leonard Walsh: Most Promising.

Billy Roberts: Coaches’ Award.

Under 15 Boys-Mortlake/Cobden

Parker Walsh: Cricketer of the Year.

Campbell Walsh: batting average and aggregate, best in finals.

Sam Wareham: Bowling Average and Aggregate.

Billy Roberts: Most Improved.

Cooper Henry: Most Promising.

Josh Slater: Coaches’ Award.

After a shared-lunch, the club moved into the senior awards.

Award winners were as follows:

Division 1

Angus Uwland: Cricketer of the Year, Batting Average and Aggregate, Best in Grand Final.

Simon Murfett: Bowling Average and Aggregate.

Rangarajan ‘Ronnie’ Raghavendra: Captains’ Award.

Jack Hutt: Best in Semi-Final.

Women’s Division

Jessica Walsh: Cricketer of the Year, Batting Average and Aggregate, Bowling Average and Aggregate.

Mikayla Hein: Most Improved.

Tara Watts: Captains’ Award.

Division 2

Michael Pegg: Cricketer of the Year, Bowling Aggregate.

Ashley Rosolin: Batting Average and Aggregate.

Luke Pekin: Bowling Average.

Nicholas Wetemans: Captains’Award.

Division 3

Matthew Hanks: Cricketer of the Year, Batting Aggregate.

Matthew Clarke: Batting Average.

Jessica Walsh: Bowling Average and Aggregate.

Connor Poole: Captains’ Award.

Specialist Awards

Connor Poole: Ultimate Trainer.

Cooper Beard: Self- Sacrificer.

The club has continued to take pride in its junior programs and development, which was on full show throughout the day.

The Cobden Cricket Club looks forward to the 2023/2024 season, and extends an open invite to any new or past members to get involved.
