ROUND 10 proved a tough one for Simpson’s senior footballers, who faced top side Alvie last weekend.

The Swans showed why they sit on top of the Colac and District ladder with only one loss to date, applying strong pressure all over the ground and limiting the home side’s scoring opportunities throughout the match.

The Tigers fought hard and showed some strong passages of play but were unable to make a big impression on the scoreboard, kicking 4.2.26 to the Swans’ 13.8.86.

Nicholas Harding was again strong in front of goals, kicking two for the Tigers, while Thomas Leishman and Brad Salmon contributed a goal apiece.

Best for the home side were Jamie Barry, Brock Neal, Matthew Drayton, Jack Hookway, Brenton De jong and Leishman.

In the reserves match, Simpson continued its good season to date, matching well with the third-placed Alvie.

With seven wins on the board, the Tigers sit fourth on the league ladder, two games clear of Irrewarra-Beeac in fifth.

Last Saturday’s match saw the Tigers enjoy a well-earned 72-point victory, 17.15.117 to 7.3.45.

The in-form Jono Jennings booted eight majors for the Tigers and was well supported on the scoreboard by team-mates Noah Ackerley, Kyle Clemmens, Stuart de Bie and Jack Hawkes with two each, while Shaun Guy contributed a goal.

Among the best for the Tigers were Luke Kensit, Sam Rix, Jaryd Dunyhoven, Daniel Wright, Jennings and Tanner Fratantaro.

Earlier in the day, Simpson’s under 18s put on a strong performance to defeat Alvie 7.13.55 to 6.2.38.

Bradey Fratantaro, Louis Janssen, Oliver Rial, Jack Balcombe, Geordie Ferrari and Nate Sambell were named in the best for the Tigers while the goal kickers were Harry Fleming (3), Billy Hawkes (2) and one each from Jack Balcombe and Isaac Holland.
