Last season’s semi-finalists once again showed why they are considered real premiership contenders in 2023.
The Tigers took an early jump on the visitors, booting home five goals three and keeping the Demons scoreless in the first term.
It was all a one-sided affair from there, with the Demons failing to put a score on the board for the day while Merrivale went on to kick 18.12.120 before the final siren.
Best for the Demons were Darcy Tribe, Isiah Arundell, Kyle Delaney, Henry Stansfield and Samuel Newey.
The side will be looking to notch up win number three when they take on bottom-team Old Collegians at home this weekend.
The Demons’ reserves side also struggled against Merrivale and was held scoreless for the game while the Tigers kicked 22.16.148.
Best for the Demons were Joe Williams, Jeremy Doolan, Brad Kerr, Christopher Moutray, Harrison Whiting and Branden Hobbs.
Earlier in the day, Timboon’s under 18s, who currently sit second on their ladder, enjoyed a well-earned 100-point win over Merrivale, 16.13.109 to 1.3.9.
Eben White kicked four goals for the victors, Taj Quarrell added three and Paddy Conheady and Daniel Ryan both kicked two.
Taj Field, Luke Gale, Zeth Kerr, Will Moorhuse and Max Rantall kicked one goal each.
Among the best for the Demons were Tony Groves, Daniel Ryan, Eben White, Jack Matthews, Taj Quarrell and Richie Moorhouse.
It was a tough day on the courts for the Demons, defeated in all games of netball played.
Results were as follows:
A grade – Merrivale defeated Timboon 48-38.
A reserve – Merrivale defeated Timboon 38-35.
B grade – Merrivale defeated Timboon 52-22.
17 and under – Merrivale defeated Timboon 51-18.
15 and under – Merrivale defeated Timboon 25-12.
13 and under – Merrivale defeated Timboon 21-17.
