Tough day for Demons

THE Merrivale Tigers proved too strong on their home ground last weekend, taking a huge 111-point victory over Timboon.

The Demons struggled against the in-form Tigers, who currently sit third on the Warrnambool and District League ladder.

Final scores were Merrivale 22.16.148 to Timboon 6.1.37.

Best for the Demons were Rhys Ziegelaar, Thomas Hunt, Jasper Makin, Samuel Newey, Bailey Delaney and Eddie Gaut.

Bailey Delaney, Kyle Delaney, Mitchell Gristede, Ash Hunt, Thomas Hunt and Rhys Ziegelaar each contributed a goal.

Round one also proved a tough one for the Demons’ reserves, going down by 53 points, 4.4.28 to 12.9.81.

Cory Collins kicked two goals while Lewis Cunnington and Anthony Glennen each kicked one.

Best players were Jeremy Doolan, Richie Moorhouse, Lewis Cunnington, Robert Matthews, Leroy Steere and Daniel Shanahan.

It was a mixed bag of results for the Demons on the netball courts, defeated in all senior grades but coming home with a draw and two wins in the juniors.

A grade – Merrivale defeated Timboon 58-38.

A reserve – Merrivale defeated Timboon 37-26.

B grade – Merrivale defeated Timboon 39-34.

17 and under – Timboon drew with Merrivale 33-33.

15 and under – Timboon defeated Merrivale 37-7.

13 and under – Timboon defeated Merrivale 25-17.
