Tough one for Tigers
TOP side Colac Imperials proved too strong for the Simpson Tigers last weekend.

TOP side Colac Imperials proved toostrong for the Simpson Tigers last weekend.
The Imperials, who have lost just one game this season, made it hard for the Tigers to make a dent on the scoreboard, kicking 14.18.102 to the Tigers’ 7.5.47.
Simpson coach Daniel Beard said while the game was always going to be a tough one, he felt his side “did okay” until just after the half-time break when Colac came out firing.
“They came out strong and kicked about six goals in as many minutes and I think that shell-shocked us a bit,” he said.
“That was about the end of the game; we couldn’t get back from that point.
“Looking back at the footage there’s a few key areas we need to work on and we’ll be looking at those over the next couple of sessions in the lead-up to our next round.”
The Tigers will face last year’s premiers, South Colac, in round 12 – a game Beard said would be “another good test.”
Best for the Tigers last weekend were Nick Duynhoven, Brenton De Jong, Jack Hookway, Jamie Barry, Jack Finn and Matthew Drayton.
Nicholas Harding kicked four for the home side while Hookway, Drayton and Sam Rix contributed one goal apiece.
Simpson’s reserves currently sit fourth on the ladder, one game behind Alvie and three games clear of the fifth-placed Irrewarra-Beeac.
The Tigers put on a strong performance on their home ground last weekend to defeat Colac by 52 points, 11.9.75 to 3.5.23.
Best players for the Tigers were Archie Rial, Zachary Harrop-Anderson, Shaun Guy, Brodie Neale, Daniel Wright and Jason McVilly.
Jono Jennings had a great day in front of goals, kicking five for the side, while Brodie Neale added three, Jason McVilly two and one from Jack Hawkes.
Simpson’s under 18s found the going tough against the Imperials, going down 19.9.123 to 1.3.9.
Nate Sambell, Louis Janssen, Jack Balcombe, Bradley Fratantaro, Geordie Ferrari and Tyson Balcombe all worked hard for the Tigers while Louis Duynhoven was the only goal kicker.
