Tough start for Magpies
ROUND one of the 2024 Hampden League season was a tough one for Camperdown, going down to the Bloods by 29 points.

Playing under lights at Leura Oval last Saturday, the Magpies fought hard and showed some good passages of play but were unable to keep up with the visitors on the scoreboard.
Final scores were Camperdown 6.13.49 to Terang Mortlake 12.6.78.
Best for the home side were Cameron Spence, Eric Guthrie, William Rowbottom, Judah Dundon, Matthew Field and Hamish Sinnott.
Sam Gordon and Hamish Sinnott kicked two goals each for the side while Dominic Absalom and Angus Gordon each contributed one.
In the reserves match, Camperdown got within two goals of the visitors, going down 7.10.52 to 10.4.64.
Best for the Magpies were Luke O’Neil, Isaac McVilly, James O’Neil, Shane Morgan, Paddy Baker and Nick Jones.
Baker, McVilly and O’Neil each kicked two goals while Morgan added one.
It was a mixed bag of results for the Magpies on the netball courts last weekend.
Open – Camperdown lost to Terang Mortlake 44-53. Best players: Jessica Cameron, Rosie Pickles and Matilda Pollard.
Division one – Camperdown lost to Terang Mortlake 29-52. Best: Grace Lucas, Kirby Stonehouse and Eliza Fleming.
Division two – Camperdown defeated Terang Mortlake 29-24. Best: Lauren Murphy, Jess Van den Eynde and Georgia Lucas.
Division three – Camperdown defeated Terang Mortlake 36-27. Best: Phoebe Plunkett, Melanie Simmonds and Ruby Walsh.
17 and under – Camperdown defeated Terang Mortlake 58-34. Best: Indiana Cameron, Elsie Sinnott and Piper Stephens.
17 and under reserves – Camperdown defeated Cobden 35-20. Best: Elizabeth Dennis, Layla Blomfield and Isla Nolan.
15 and under – Camperdown lost to Terang Mortlake 14-29. Best: Elle Mahony, Shelby Mahony and Charlotte Hinds.
15 and under reserves – Camperdown lost to Terang Mortlake 6-33. Best: Sasha Kerr, Evie Mahony and Kayla Loving.
13 and under – Camperdown defeated Terang Mortlake 44-5. Best: Chloe Castle, Stella Hinds and Abigail Sinnott.
13 and under reserves – Camperdown defeated Terang Mortlake 20-16. Best: Phillipa Murphy, Meg Nolan and Scarlett Simmonds.
Round two of Hampden League this weekend will see Camperdown head to Hawkesdale Recreation Reserve to take on the Hamilton Kangaroos.
