COACHES will replace trains between Geelong and Warrnambool from this week.

Replacement services began on Wednesday and will be in place through to Sunday, November 19.

The Department of Transport and Planning announced the disruption citing station upgrades, track and drainage works and excavating for the installation of signalling and communication cables between South Geelong and Geelong as the cause.

Trains will be departing Warrnambool Line stations up to 30 minutes earlier than usual time.

On weekends, coaches will replace the 7.40am Warrnambool to Southern Cross and the 7pm Southern Cross to Warrnambool services for the entire journey.

A temporary coach replacement timetable is available from the V/Line website.

Trains will run between Geelong and Southern Cross, except for the 5.56am Geelong to Southern Cross and 4.31pm Southern Cross to Geelong weekday services.

These will be replaced by coach for the entire journey.

Coaches to Geelong will depart Waurn Ponds, Marshall and South Geelong up to 40 minutes earlier than the usual train time.
