Fifteen year-old Rusty Ponting took the chequered flag for the fourth time this season, while fellow Cobden driver Hugo Chivell, 13, took second place with 16 year-old local Zac Stephens rounding out the top three.

“It was an amazing night of results, not just for Rusty but for all three of them,” dad Warren Ponting said.

“To have all three Cobden drivers finish on the podium is remarkable; it’s something they’ve been working towards and they should all be very proud.”

The talented juniors will return to the Simpson race track for Speedweek action on December 27, starting off a busy race campaign for the young track stars.

They will head to Portland on December 29, before racing at Avalon on December 30 and January 2, before returning to Mid-Western Speedway Darlington on Friday, January 3.

The nine-round Koch Fertilisers Junior Stampede Series will return on February 1.

The Junior Formula 500s will also be a support class at Premier Speedway on March 15.
