Turn your clocks forward

VICTORIANS are reminded to turn their clocks forward one hour this weekend.

By wd-news

Daylight Savings Time begins on the first Sunday in October (this Sunday, October 6), with clocks wound forward one hour from 2am.

As technology advances, most modern phones, computers, watches, alarms and even vehicle clocks with internet access will automatically change, but analogue clocks and watches will still need to be switched.

Daylight Savings Time was first introduced in 1916 to assist soldiers during war, and continues to this day to better align society with more usable hours of daylight.

While losing an hour of sleep headed into a Monday is not ideal, Daylight Savings Time will finish next year on Sunday, April 6 when Victorians will gain an extra hour of sleep as clocks are wound back one hour.
