THE Hampden League has brought home two state titles from last weekend’s Netball Victoria association championships.
Hampden won both the 17 and under and 13 and under titles, played at the State Netball Centre in Parkville on Sunday.
Both sides, along with Hampden’s 15 and under team, had previously qualified for the event based on their performances in the Western Region association championships.
The 17 and under side defeated Banyule and Districts FNL 14-11 in the championship decider, while the 13 and unders defeated St Albans/Caroline Springs 15-6.
Led by coach Nadine McNamara and assistant coach Sophie Hinkley, the 17 and under squad included local players Jessica Bouchier, Grace Taylor and Lara Taylor (Cobden), along with Camperdown’s Mary Place.
The 13 and under side was coached by Marie Wall and Dot Jenkins.
Included in the squad were locals Milla Darcy (Cobden), Piper Stephens (Camperdown) and Pippa Barr (Terang Mortlake).
Hampden’s open side also performed well at the state championships, reaching the semi-finals.
