Upgrades at reservoir
WANNON Water is upgrading the embankment at the Donald’s Hill Reservoir in Camperdown.

WANNON Water is upgrading the embankment at the Donald’s Hill Reservoir in Camperdown.
Wannon Water branch manager asset creation Simon Perrin said the project, estimated to cost around $1 million, would ensure the reservoir continued to meet the current dam safety standards which change over time.
“The work is also an important part of making sure our customers’ water supplies continue to be top-quality, safe and reliable,” he said.
“Work started in January and is expected to be completed in April.
“The water level in the reservoir has been lowered during the project as a safety precaution.”
Mr Perrin said there was no service interruptions to customers expected as a result of the works.
Donald’s Hill Reservoir is one of the storages in the Otway water supply system, Wannon Water’s largest and most complex supply system.
Originally constructed in 1935, the system provides two-thirds of the region’s water needs.
Mr Perrin said water was pumped from the Otways and stored in the reservoir, allowing sediment to settle out, before being treated at the Camperdown water treatment plant.
The drinking water is then supplied to customers in Camperdown, Lismore, Derrinallum and along the Camperdown rural pipeline.
