CAMPERDOWN veterinarian Kathy Gillies has been recognised for her 25 years of service at the Camperdown Veterinary Clinic.

Dr Gillies holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, and focuses on small pets and ultrasounds at the clinic.

Dr Gillies said veterinary work was just something she always wanted to do since she was a child.

“I love the work and the clientele, and being able to look after animals from the start of their life through their various life stages. It’s been really rewarding, and I enjoy doing that part,” she said.

“The clinic’s been very supportive of the type of work I want to do.”

She began at the clinic in January 1998, and married a local dairy farmer in 2001.

Now, she has four children and a grandchild, which she said has put a “different perspective” on her life.

Not one for being in the public eye, Dr Gillies said it’s been “lovely” to receive comments from past staff and clients, and to see how people have valued her work.

“I’ve worked with some wonderful people over the years; I’ve met some very lovely nurses and vets over the years,” she said.

“I enjoy the work here, and I assume will be here for some time.”

Dr Gillies mentioned that there have been a lot of changes over the years, including to the physical building.

“When I started, the building itself was a lot smaller, so they extended not long after I got here,” she said.
