Vintage cars on track
LAST Saturday marked the 50th anniversary meeting at Simpson Speedway.
With the Victorian Super Rod title, Pro Sprintcars, Vintage Sedans, Rods, Sprintcars and Modifieds all on the program, the night offered an evening of non-stop action.
According to Simpson Speedway president Dale Walsh, the night was even more special for local fan-favourite Matthew Symons who took out the chequered flag in last weekend’s round of the Pro Sprint series.
“To see a local win at the track was pretty special, as was the number of vintage cars we had on display,” Walsh said.
“Three vintage classes were represented and each enjoyed a few runs on the track, which was a spectacle in itself."
The club plans to hold a celebratory dinner in July to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The next meeting at Simpson Speedway will be held on Saturday, April 13.
The program will include Street Stocks, Wingless Sprints and Junior Sedans.
Gates open to the public at 4pm with on-track action from 5pm.
