V/Line performance dips
V/LINE performance dipped below the punctuality and reliability performance targets on the Warrnambool line during September.
V/LINE performance dipped below the punctuality and reliability performance targets on the Warrnambool line during September.
The Warrnambool line recorded 94.3 per cent for the reliability of services in September.
Of the 221 services which were scheduled to run for the month, 12 were replaced by coaches.
A total of 86.8 per cent of the services which operated on the Warrnambool line arrived within the nominated threshold of ten minutes and 59 seconds.
Six services were delayed due to trespasser incidents on the busy section of tracks which Warrnambool trains share with Geelong services.
Power outages, track faults, and train faults also led to delayed services.
The primary reasons trains were unable to run in September were track and signal faults, train faultsand trespassers.
Services were also affected by a police incident at Little River and a road vehicle striking a boom gate at a level crossing in Marshall, where trains had to be held until they were given the all clear to safely proceed through the locations, resulting in flow on impacts to services along the corridor.
A V/Line spokesperson said improvement would be targeted.
“While unfortunately the punctuality and reliability results for last month did not meet our targets, we continue to look for ways to make improvements and ensure the performance of our services is an ongoing focus,” the spokesperson said.
