The second annual Victorian SRA Pro Sprints Championship has attracted a stout field including 2022 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic champion Lachlan McHugh.
The hard-driving Gold Coast racer will make the trip to Victoria to drive the Domain Ramsay-owned machine and join team-mate and recent race winner at Warrnambool, Jordan Rae.
Current pro sprints state champion Brenten Farrer is aiming to defend his title and although this is a non-points round for the division, he is one of 30 cars entered including hard-charger Rusty Hickman.
Portland’s Daniel Storer, in his first season of racing, has already tasted success with a last lap victory in the fourth round of the series last weekend at Horsham’s Blu Ribbon Raceway.
Simpson’s John Vogels is due for a change of luck and on his home track will be hard to beat.
Cobden’s Dale Walsh and Camperdown’s Andy Hibbert will also give the partisan crowd something to cheer about.
Warrnambool regular wingless sprints driver Harry Ross will again add to his track time in a sprintcar, as will Allansford’s Jett Bell in the Eastham family-owned car.
The Formula 500s, in both senior and junior, also feature on the program and there will be 35 seniors and around a dozen juniors set to scream into action.
The 2022 version of “Green Night” was hailed a success by organisers and helped raise further awareness and much-needed funds for The Gillin Boys Foundation – Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Warrnambool.
Popular Sydney Speedway commentator Stuart McCarthy is making the trip to Simpson to be a special part of the night.
Fans are once again asked to wear something green, including purchasing the popular green shoelaces or creating their own colourful design.
On the night there will be a prize for the best attendee dressed in green as well as donation tins and a raffle, with all proceeds to be donated directly to the foundation.
All children entering the venue will also be given a free green glow stick.
Gates will open for general admission at 4pm with cars on track from 5pm.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.simpsonspeedway.com.auor at the gate on Saturday.
