CORANGAMITE volleyball will launch its 45th year with a warm-up session in Cobden next week.

The session will be held at the Cobden Recreation Centre from 7pm next Tuesday and all interested players are encouraged to attend.

Last season’s spring premiers were NOBTS (A grade) and Slugs B (B grade) and both sides will be keen to defend their titles in the first season of the 2023 competition.

Plenty of interest will surround the make-up of the competition with Cooriemungle Bulls, Ballbusters, Slugs A, Slugs B, Poachers, Bungador Spikers, Beers, NOBTS, Scotts Creek Stags and Boofheads all displaying their talents at various stages during the three seasons in 2022.

New inquiries from Terang and Camperdown may see additional teams from those areas.

Line-ups can be male, female or mixed and players’ ages range from early teens to early 70s.

Top grade premiers in the earlier autumn and winter seasons were Poachers and Slugs respectively, which means the honours were spread around.

A highlight of last season was the influx of younger players, with Megladons showing youthful talent as well as other teams finding younger legs were a real asset at the net and around the courts.

Seasons have been traditionally 10 weeks in duration which means teams can play for short or long periods depending on their work or other commitments.

With two available courts, play for all teams is usually completed within 90 minutes of the 7.30pm starting time.

Inquiries regarding the upcoming season can be directed to Gabe Bellman on 0428 799690 or Brendan Drewry 0429 626798, Chris Brooks 0419 043103 or Kelvin White 0429 921876.
