Walker wins vets' day
WITH a nett score of 48, Mick Walker was the winner of last Friday’s vets’ day at the Mortlake Golf Club.
Runner-up on the day was Peter Palmer on nett 49, with nearest the pins going to Peter Fox, Glen Byers and Kevin Etherton.
Special guest for the day was Member for Wannon Dan Tehan who supported the club in its successful application for a $25,000 federal government grant for a new irrigation system.
Last Saturday’s stroke monthly medal and first round of club championships was won by Clint Baker 9-77-68.
Runner-up was Merv Hampson on 29-99-70.
Nearest the pins: 3/12 Garry Shalders, 6/15 Shane Slater, 9/18 Clint Baker.
Balls down the line went to Dougal Ranken, Glen Byers, Jake Last, Richard van Diemen and Ben Boers.
This week’s event will be the second round of club championships.
