Wareham celebrates

MORTLAKE’S Georgia Wareham is again celebrating with the Australian women’s cricket team following its victory in the T20 World Cup.
Australia won its sixth women’s T20 World Cup Title in brilliant fashion last Saturday, defeating home-side South Africa by 19 runs in front of a sold-out Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
While Wareham was unable to add to Australia’s scoresheet with the bat, her creditable performance in the field was highlighted with a two-over bowling spell which left her with figures of 0/21.
Australian captain Meg Lanning was thrilled with her team’s overall performance, winning the tournament for the sixth time in seven editions.
Defending a respectable 6/156, Australia pushed South Africa early and had the home side 1/22 after six overs.
Although South Africa accelerated late, led by Laura Wolvaardt’s 61 from 48 balls, accurate bowling and crisp fielding stifled any comeback and secured Australia’s victory.
