Mortlake’s Georgia Wareham is continuing to shine at an international level, playing a pivotal role in Australia’s recent Ashes success.

The talented leg spin bowler and her Australian team-mates have retained the Women’s Ashes after defeating England earlier this week in the first T20 international at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Australia moved to an unassailable eight points in the women’s Ashes after defeating England by 57 runs.

England was dismissed for 141 in 16 overs after chasing a record-equalling 199 by the Australians.

The host side put on a solid performance with the bat, with opener Beth Mooney smashing 75 from 51 deliveries (including 11 boundaries) while Wareham was unbeaten on 11 off 10 balls, which included one four.

Continuing her current good form, Wareham proved formidable with the ball once again, taking 3-25 off three overs.

Wareham was the highest wicket taker for the Aussies, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success.
