We will remember them
RESIDENTS across the district took pause to mark Remembrance Day on Monday, reflecting on those who served during war and in peace-keeping operations for Australia.

Camperdown’s service at the Soldiers Memorial saw residents gather to pay their respects, with the Camperdown Returned and Services League (RSL) sub-branch pleased with attendance.
The service included poem readings by the school captains from Mercy Regional College and Camperdown College’s junior campus, followed by Camperdown RSL sub-branch president Kevin Murray presenting his research into the Errey brothers.
Wreathes were then laid by various community groups and organisations, including Camperdown Police, Camperdown College, Mercy Regional College, Camperdown RSL, and a descendent of the Errey brothers.
Camperdown RSL sub-branch secretary Paul Marsland said attendance for this year’s service was “terrific again”.
“The weather was perfect for everyone to come out,” he said.
“It’s always awkward when it’s on a working day.
“It was fantastic attendance, and it was great to see everyone here.
“The committee are extremely happy, and extremely proud of the support for veterans in the local community.”
Mr Marsland said he encouraged the community to consider becoming members of the Camperdown RSL sub-branch
“It’s not only open to veterans – we have affiliate members, and we also have social members,” he said.
“We’ve got a number of unrecognised veterans in the community, and we’d also love to hear from them and support them.”
