THE Western District Golf Association women’s championships were contested at Terang last Friday.
THE Western District Golf Association women’s championships were contested at Terang last Friday.
The 27-hole open and district championship was won by promising 17 year-old golfer Molly O’Brien from Hamilton.
Molly took up golf during the COVID-19 restrictions but has only been playing competitively for the last two years.
In short order, Molly has reduced her Golf Australia handicap to seven and recently won the Hamilton Golf Club women’s championship.
While still a student at Monivae College, Molly is keen to pursue further golfing challenges and will be competing at events in Melbourne in the coming months.
The Bronze I, handicaps 19 -29, scratch winner was Glenys Dixon also from Hamilton Golf Club.
Bronze II, handicaps 30 – 45, was a stableford event won by Jane Heffernan from Terang Golf Club.

Twenty-seven hole handicap winner Marion Venn (Terang) 109 nett; runner-up Jenny Meade (Terang) 111.5 nett.
