ARE you up for the challenge of summiting four volcanic peaks in the one day?

That is the question that the Friends of Mt Leura group are asking.

The Four Peaks Challenge is back again on Sunday.

The day begins at 9.30am at the base of Mt Leura where those with a modicum level of fitness will first walk to the top of the two Camperdown mounts, along the established walking tracks.

This is followed by a half hour drive to Derrinallum where Mt Elephant is then climbed.

Another half hour drive then takes you to the last of the Four Peaks Challenge, Mt Noorat.

Event organiser John Fallon is looking forward to this year’s challenge.

“The event is a good way to promote the volcanic history of the region,” he said.

“People walk the 11 kilometres at their own pace and everyone is normally finished
by 4pm.

“In the past participants have come from all over the south west and Melbourne and enjoyed the fantastic views from the top of each different volcano”.

Further information on the day can be found at the Mt Leura.org.au website or by contacting John Fallon on 0487 341 337.
