TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers enjoyed their second consecutive win, with victory over Port Fairy last weekend.
The Bloods got off to a strong start, kicking 2.2 in the first quarter while restricting their opposition to just 1.5.
A run of five goals in the second term saw the Bloods go into the half-time break with a 17-point lead at the Gardens Oval.
The third term was a low scoring affair, with the Bloods adding just one goal, three behinds to the scoreboard while Port Fairy could only manage one goal, three.
It was a similar scenario in the final quarter, with scores ending on 12.6.78 to 5.14.44 in favour of the visitors.
The win sees the Bloods currently sitting eighth on the league ladder (with three wins), above Camperdown and bottom-of-the-table Port Fairy.
Best for the Bloods on Saturday were Gus Bourke (enjoying his 100th senior game), Matthew Baxter, Jarryd Hay, Brodhi Carracher, Xavier Vickers and Ryley Hutchins.
Goal kickers: Matthew Baxter (4), Harvey Roberts (3), Will Kain (2), Brodhi Carracher, Daniel Kenna and Hugh Porter.
With Port Fairy unable to field a side, the Bloods’ reserves took the points on forfeit.
The Bloods will attempt to make it three from three after the bye but the challenge will be a big one when they face ladder leaders Koroit on July 9.
