Works proceed for wind farm

ACCIONA Energy is approaching the end of public road works, which includes upgrades to the Terang-Mortlake Road and Tapps Lane intersection and upgrades to Chamallak Lane and Grinters Lane.
ACCIONA Energy community relations co-ordinator Kirsten Lee said upgrade works on the Stony Creek bridge on Tapps Lane are scheduled to start next Tuesday, June 11, with works anticipated to last at least three weeks.
“Traffic will not be able to use Tapps Lane between the Grinters Lane and Chamallak Lane intersections, as per council approved plans,” she said.
“All traffic will be diverted to both Grinters Lane and Chamallak Lane.”
ACCIONA Energy is also finalising the plans for the installation of the 15-kilometre underground transmission line to the Terang substation starting in October and lasting from six to nine months.
“During construction of the underground transmission line, people can expect traffic management measures to be in place where works are occurring in the road reserve,” Ms Lee said.
“Specialist equipment will be used to bore under roads, so we do not expect any road closures or traffic diversions.”
The main turbine components will start to arrive on site early next year.
Concrete for the wind turbine foundations will be batched on site and will bring material in for the concrete from the Holcim quarry in Warrnambool and the Ararat Fine Sands Quarry.
Materials for the access tracks will come from the Sisters-Noorat, Mount Shadwell and Salt Creek quarries.
