IF Carole Manifold could make Christmas cakes on love alone she would.

Since speaking with Western District Newspapers earlier this month about her ongoing initiative which sees her bake countless Christmas cakes for a cause, she has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community.

She said her phone had been ringing non-stop with people not only wanting to purchase a cake, but to just make a donation.

Since 2014 she has been selling her homemade Christmas cakes – which come in a variety of sizes to suit all needs – with all proceeds going to the Warrnambool Cancer Centre.

Initially selling the cakes as a fundraiser in the lead-up to Christmas, the effort has since transformed into a year-long appeal.

One, Mrs Manifold said the wider community has been only too happy to support.

She said a Fonterra Australia representative contacted her after seeing the article and said they would be happy to donate Western Star butter for the cakes.

“It’s incredible,” Mrs Manifold said.

“That’s really been the only thing I’ve had to buy. Everything elsegets donated.

“It’s just amazing how the community has rallied around and asked if they can help.

“It’s just been amazing.”

Fonterra Cobden site manager Nick Hayes was pleased to be able to make the donation.

“Cobden is the home to Western Star, Australia’s favourite butter,”he said.

“When we heard about the incredible work that Carole is doing for Warrnambool Cancer Centre, we wanted to show our support.

“As we know, high-quality butter is a key ingredient to a good Christmas cake, so it only made sense for us to donate some of our award-winning Wester Star butter.”

Mrs Manifold said orders had flooded in since the article last week.

“I can’t tell you how many orders I’ve had,” she said.

Mrs Manifold wanted to say a special thanks to Fiona Hall who has generously helped to wrap the cakes for a number of years.

“She’s just amazing,” she said.

The cakes – which range in price from $30 to $5 – can be ordered from the Camperdown Courthouse, Rodney Grove Community Aquatic Centre in Cobden as well as contact Carole Manifold on 0427 406 699.
