Last Friday night also provided athletes with relay practice for Sunday’s regional carnival.
Nine teams represented Camperdown in the 4x100, 4x200 and medley events in Stawell last weekend.
The group, representing the western region, stepped in to help athletes from other centres enjoy the opportunity to run in a team event – and also to make new friends.
A very warm day, early start and a late finish was a challenge but there was some great results, with many Camperdown athletes coming home with medals.
For those who didn’t medal on the day, the club is very proud of their efforts and for being great role models.
Thank you also to all Camperdown parents who helped at various points of the day, in many different roles.
Those families who attended extend their thanks to Kristie and Kathy for the many hours they put in over the last few weeks organising teams, gazebos and training and for sorting athletes and families at the carnival.
The club will find out in the coming weeks if any of its athletes will progress through to the little athletics state championship in early February.
Monday night was the last week of training for the 2022 year. Many thanks to Stuart Canavan from the Regional Institute of Sport for donating his time and teaching children the fundamental skills needed to do their best.
Thanks also to former president Kathy Hallyburton for her assistance at training each week and for staying back after the Friday competitions to offer relay training.
As the year draws to a close, the last week of competition for 2022 will be on December 16.
It will be a Christmas-themed event and the club would love for athletes, committee, parents and team managers to come along dressed up.
It is hoped many athletes will be at the Camperdown College sports precinct this Friday at 4.15pm.
