Young Bloods were dedicated
THE Terang Mortlake Bloods open netball 2022 season undoubtedly did not go the way the young side had hoped, but nobody could accuse the team of not leaving it all out on the court.
THE Terang Mortlake Bloods open netball 2022 season undoubtedly did not go the way the young side had hoped, but nobody could accuse the team of not leaving it all out on the court.
The Bloods could not finish the season with a win over the weekend despite a strong performance against the high-flying Cobden Bombers, falling 45-35.
Standouts Jacqui Arundell and Eboni Knights scored 21 goals apiece but the Bloods could not keep pace with the second-on-the-ladder Bombers.
The Bloods finished the season with a 3-15 record, earning ninth on the ladder.
The loss to Cobden was in line with a trend for the Bloods side, as the scores began to narrow in the second half of the season.
The team began finding rare form but made a habit of starting strong before faltering in the later stage of games.
The season had started strong for the Bloods with two consecutive wins over Camperdown and Port Fairy in the opening weeks, but a slump of eight consecutive losses derailed the promising start.
Despite the rough stretch, coach Sharon Kenna praised her side’s dedication week in and week out; even out of finals contention, the Bloods continued to play like a team with something to prove.
Jacqui Arundell and Eboni Knights led the way in scoring, shooting 299 and 283 goals respectively on the year as a strong attacking duo.
