Your chance to celebrate local businesses
NOMINATIONS for Moyne Shire Council’s annual Love Local Awards are now open.
The awards create a platform for the community to recognise and celebrate the outstanding local businesses which provide fantastic customer service or make brilliant products in Moyne Shire.
Mayor Ian Smith said the Love Local program had been developed when the COVID-19 pandemic arrived on Australian shores as a way of encouraging people to support local businesses during lockdowns.
“It has grown from that to become a key program for council,” he said.
“Moyne Shire Council embraces ways it can help to promote and celebrate the fantastic things local businesses are doing.
“These awards have become an important part of that.”
There are four categories people can nominate their favourite businesses for:
Most Sustainable;
Best Customer Service;
Most Community Focused; and
Made in Moyne.
“Nominations close on Monday, June 3, so there’s still time to lodge a nomination via council’s website,” Cr Smith said.
“Why not show these businesses some love and nominate them for the annual Love Local Awards?”
Cr Smith said nominated businesses would then be put to a community vote from June 4-18 to determine the winners.
The award-winning businesses will then be announced at an event in June.
